Bluenited States of America

Notice the new link under the "worthwhile causes". I had so much fun with this little quiz I just had to post it. For any of you that were as disappointed with the sea of communist red displayed on the map at the last election check out this plan for success in 2008! Go BLUE Thanks to Regina for this uplifting info.

Rain or Shine?

There are so many studies out lately linking depression to the weather. They say that there is a correlation between dark gloomy weather and feeling sad or forlorn. While this may be true in some people, I wonder how it is that I am not this way. I have been depressed for most of my life I think and I live in one of the sunniest states in the country. We get A LOT of sun here and I seem to be happier when it rains. Maybe there are other underlying issues here? Wouldn't be the first time that I found out that I have "underlying issues"....I don't know what else to say on the subject. I went to the doctor on Friday to discuss this and other issues and in a move of remarkable irony she prescribed prozac for me. As it turns out, the prescription was only 10 dollars so in all technicality my blog is still correct, blogging really IS cheaperthanprozac!!

Another way to waste hours (maybe days) of your life

Browsing other's blogs this evening I found the following link that I could swipe and promote on my blog too! YAY!

Mind numbing fun!

And just because he would never post it himself, here's Jaye in disneyland with his Mickey Ears.....hey John, maybe you should make this your background :-) Posted by Hello

Grandma and her new kitty lil' bit. Everyone think good thoughts, she starts another round of chemotherapy later today! Posted by Hello

My parents in disneyland! We kept track of them by finding my dad's ears in a crowd. The only 6'1 eeyore there :-) Posted by Hello

Is the weekend over already?

Wow, I feel like the weekend should just be starting. Ok, maybe that is just wishful thinking. I had a good weekend. Jaye started the weekend on a winning note. He won us a weekend getaway to Las Vegas. It will be good for us I think, and I was very proud of him. Maybe we'll continue his winning streak and bring home some cash ;-) We spent the weekend up with my parents. They were nice enough to feed us and let us do our laundry while hanging out with them. Just thought I would drop a thank you, and I'll post a picture :-) Have a good week everyone!

Back in my day...

When I was a kid adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious
diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with
walking twenty-five miles to school every morning uphill both ways through
year 'round blizards carrying their younger siblings on their backs to
their one-room schoolhouse where they maintained a straight-A average
despite their full-time after-school job at the local textile mill where
they worked for 35 cents an hour just to help keep their family from
starving to death!

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up there was no way in
hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I
had it and how easy they've got it!

But....

Now that I've reached the ripe old age of twenty-nine, I can't help but
look aroud and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a
damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how
good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet
-- we wanted to know something, we had to go to the goddamned library and
look it up ourselves!

And there was no email! We had to actually write somebody a letter -- with
a pen! --and then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it
in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

And there were no MP3s or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to
go to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or we had to wait
around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the
begining and f@#* it all up!

You want to hear about hardship? You couldn't just download porn! You had
to bribe some homeless dude to buy you a copy of "Hustler" at the 7-11!

Those were your options!

We didn't have fancy shit like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and
somebody else called they got a busy signal! And we didn't have fancy
Caller ID Boxes either! When the the phone rang, you had no idea who it
was. It could be your boss, your mom, a collections agent, your drug
dealer, you didn't know!!! You just had to pick it up and take your
chances, mister!

And we didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation videogames with
high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like
"Space Invaders" and "Asteroids" and the graphics sucked ass! Your guy was
a little square! You had to use your imagination! And there were no
multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could
never win, the game just kept getting harder and faster until you died!
Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating!
All the seats were the same height! A tall guy sat in front of you, you
were screwed!

And sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 20
channels and there was no onscreen menu! You had to use a little book
called a TV Guide to find out what was on! And there was no Cartoon
Network! You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning... ...D'ya hear
what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK, you spoiled little bastards!

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too
easy. You're spoiled, I swear to God! You guys wouldn't lasted five
minutes back in 1984!

TOO CUTE

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Send this phrase to the people you'll never forget and remember to send it also to the person who sent it to you. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them. If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're in a hurry and that you've forgotten your friends.
Take the time to live!!!

Confusion

It has been brought to my attention that I have confused people. Just to clarify, if I sent you a link to this site I am going by my middle name on here so you are in the right place. So sorry....

Anyway, just a quick one today. I just got home from school. Tonight was the exciting night of urinalysis...yup you guessed it 25 people peeing in a cup and evaluating their bodily fluids. Exciting stuff. I am really happy that this semester is almost over personally and am ready to take a step in some sort of direction, whatever that may be.

Oh well, hope all is well out there in cyberspace. I'll post more later.

Another day another 25 cents

Ok...even I have to admit it was a decent day. This is odd since I started out the date late to work. I got there and had a message that I didn't get the job I just interviewed for (ok, even I admit this wasn't a great surprise). Even this didn't seem to upset me. Even though I came to the conclusion I'm going to have to start working more hours doing my boring job, I am oddly calm about the whole situation. Yesterday I found out that I got a "C" on my accounting test, which was much better than the class average (an F). However, today, I found out that I got an A on my A&P test. I was SHOCKED! You'll recall from earlier posts that I was sure I had failed it.

So now with 3 weeks left of school and a full summer courseload planned I am stuck sitting waiting for the shoe to drop. I am sure that the next financial downer is just around the corner, and I will have another meltdown shortly. However, until then I am in a somewhat uncomfortable state of mind that I'm not quite used to.

Til then, 'Ciao!
